Highway 32 Reconstruction
Edgerton Contractors, Inc. contracted to rebuild a three-mile segment of Highway 32 in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. The existing road was extremely choppy partially because the underlying soils were expansive clays.
After removal and recycling of the existing pavement, Edgerton offered and performed a value engineering function utilizing flyash stabilization in lieu of undercutting and replacement with crushed stone. It was the first major use of flyash stabilization in a WDOT highway project. Standard pavement sections were then constructed and appear to be functioning quite well.
